CALL FOR PEACE IN COLOMBIA

The Council of the Socialist International, meeting in Santiago, Chile, on 6-7 November 2006, expresses its active solidarity with the efforts to secure the release of those kidnapped for political reasons by FARC, as well as all the other Colombians kidnapped by illegal groups, and calls on the guerrilla group FARC and the legitimate authorities in Colombia, to work to this end as quickly as possible on humanitarian grounds.
