RESOLUTION ON PUERTO RICO

The Socialist International Committee on Latin America and the Caribbean, meeting in Bucaramanga on 30-31 May 2011, agrees:

To support the current call of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation for the General Assembly to examine the colonial case of Puerto Rico, as well as their call for the liberation of Puerto Rican patriots in jail in the United States, one of whom, Oscar López, will this year reach 30 years of imprisonment.

To express at the same time its support for the actions taken by the Puerto Rican Independence Party to ensure that the proposed Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), include a representation of the Puerto Rican independence movement with the status of Observer.
